Texas A&M Has Yet Another Game Postponed

For the second straight week during perhaps the best season in recent years, the Texas A&M football team will not be on the field this Saturday.

After an outbreak on the team was reported last week, postponing the showdown with Tennessee to December 12, this Saturday's home game against Ole Miss was also postponed "due to the continued quarantine of individuals within the Texas A&M football program, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 management requirements," according to Texas A&M. In other words, the Aggies have too many players out to meet the 53-player limit instituted by the SEC.

It is a major blow, especially considering the momentum the Aggies have, ranked fifth in the AP Poll, one spot away from playing for the national title.

Because the Tennessee game was pushed back to December 12, this contest may or may not be played. The SEC is currently working to figure the scheduling situation out, considering multiple SEC programs including Florida, LSU, and others, have already used their "extra" bye week, set aside for games that were postponed earlier on in the season. According to Texas A&M, December 19, is now a possible date for the rescheduling of the game against Ole Miss. That is the same day that the SEC Championship is set to be held in New Orleans. It would mean that if the Aggies did play for the SEC Championship, the Ole Miss game would likely be cancelled. If not, Texas A&M would still be playing, facing Ole Miss in the season finale.

Next weekend, LSU comes to College Station. The defending national champs are just 2-3 on the season, and have not yet played in the month of November due to Covid-19 within the program.
