From the Sidelines Week 8: College Football

After 4 top-10 teams went down last week and two more barely earned victories, it's hard to be confident in any team at this point in the season. So this week, we're changing it up with our top 3 matchups of the week according the ESPN College Pick'em slate.

1. Michigan @ Michigan State Prediction: Michigan, 34-24

Although Michigan is favored in this one because of their statement win over #15 Wisconsin last week. Michigan State also and a statement victory. Despite being on the road, they managed to take down #8 Penn State, 21-17. However, as big as that win is for the Spartans, Michigan has proved to be the most consistent, riding a 5-game win streak into this rivalry.

2. Oklahoma @ TCU Prediction: Oklahoma, 42-31

Since TCU's road loss versus Texas in Week 4, this hasn't nearly been the same team that almost beat Ohio State early in the year. Meanwhile, the Sooners' loss to Texas shouldn't dampen Kyler Murray's excellent season or the Sooners' tough defense. After all, having two weeks to think about their loss to UT, will have them even more ramped up for this game. Oklahoma looks to this game as a must-win in order to keep their CFB Playoff hopes alive, but TCU should keep it close, so don't count the Horned Frogs out just yet.

3. North Carolina State @ Clemson Prediction: Clemson, 27-23

Upset alert! Both teams are undefeated and among the top 20 in the nation. One area that NC State could definitely dominate is on the defensive line. Clemson's weak spot is quarterback, so NC State might come up victorious if their defensive line can force QB Trevor Lawrence into bad decisions and come up with a couple of turnovers. Although Lawrence is a phenom, he's also an unexperienced freshman while Wolfpack QB Ryan Finley is a veteran senior who won't have much trouble navigating this Clemson defense. This one should go back and forth, but the Tigers ultimately will notch the victory.
