Last week really shook up the top 25 from LSU's loss at Florida to Texas upset victory over Oklahoma in Dallas, we saw some great college football. This week looks to be the same kind of week, featuring multiple marquee matchups. According to ESPN's College Pick'em slate, here is my most confident game, least confident, best game and our contributor's picks.
Most Confident: Penn State over Michigan State
The Spartans have looked good at times in 2018, but losses to Arizona State and Northwestern did them no favors. In addition, Penn State is a brutal place to play if you're the opponent, just ask Ohio State. The Nittany Lions almost handed the buckeyes their first loss of the season a couple weeks ago. Quarterback Trace McSorely should add to the problems for Michigan State, considering his breakneck speed and pinpoint accuracy.
Least Confident: Oregon over Washington
Both of these teams have faltered this season, Washington in week 1 against Auburn, and Oregon blowing a 21-point lead against Stanford, but both of these teams find themselves still in the Pac-12 title race and in the top 20. As a result, this matchup won't disappoint. In a conference stacked with stars, every game matters in the fight for the Pac-12 title. Two players to watch will be will Myles Gaskin and Justin Herbert. Gaskin is an effective runner who has rushed for 554 yards and 5 TDs on the season. Meanwhile, Herbert is determined to not let what happened against the Cardinal happen in another marquee matchup. Many consider him a dark horse heisman contender and Oregon's best offensive weapon because of his strong passing ability. He has 15 TDs along with 1411 passing yards in 2018.
Best Game: Michigan over Wisconsin
The difference in this Big 10 battle will come down to defense. Many experts call the Wolverine defense "NFL ready" based on their consistent pressuring of quarterbacks and excellent coverage in the secondary, which is why I took Michigan in this one. However, Wisconsin isn't a team to go down easy and RB Jonathan Taylor might just be the most explosive runner in the country. Both teams have something to prove and playing at the Big House (Michigan) always provides an electrifying atmosphere.
Upset of the week: Memphis over UCF
This is the week UCF finally meets it's match and their ongoing 18-game win streak is broken. You can't ever underestimate teams playing at home, especially Memphis. They came within 7 points of taking down the Knights in a thrilling AAC Championship game last season. Although they don't have QB Riley Ferguson, the Tigers have looked strong all year and will try to capitalize on much-needed home field advantage this week.
