From the Sidelines Week 2: College Football Edition

After we saw Texas get upset on the road by Maryland and Notre Dame shut down Michigan, what's in store this week? According to ESPN's College Pick'Ems slate, here is my best game to watch, who I'm least confident in, who I'm most confident in and an upset alert. Enjoy!

Game of the Week: #17 USC @ #10 Stanford, 7pm ct, FOX

While USC should rely heavily on their defense which returns 7 starters, Stanford uses the abilities of senior running back Bryce Love, a heisman trophy candidate. Not only is this a battle of two teams ranked in the top 20, but it should be quite interesting to see how both teams fair in their first real test of the season. Prediction: Stanford

Who I'm least confident in: Iowa over Iowa State, 4pm ct, FOX

In 2017, the state of Iowa was home to two of the top teams in all of college football. Iowa State made headlines with an upset win over Oklahoma and Iowa had some solid wins, even while playing in the Big 10 with the likes of Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio State. This season, both teams return several key players. The Cyclones still have QB Kyle Kempt and the Hawkeyes bring back Nathan Stanley as well as Noah Fant, one of the top tight ends in the country. This will definitely be a close one.

Who I'm most confident in: Clemson over Texas A&M, 6pm ct, ESPN

Kelly Bryant is undoubtedly on of college football's most electrifying quarterbacks and the leader on a team full of experienced upperclassmen. College Station is a tough environment, but no tougher than the atmosphere at the national championship game, a place where Clemson has played a lot over the past few years. The Aggies stay in this through the first half, but lose it towards the end of the 3rd quarter. Clemson's defensive line has a tendency to wear down opposing offense lines and that very well might be the difference.

Upset alert: Pitt over Penn State, 7pm ct, ABC

Pat Narduzzi and his Pitt Panthers have a history of winning the games that really matter. Last season, they took down Miami and ruined the Hurricanes' chances of a berth in the college football playoff. They were quarterbacked in that game by Kenny Pickett, whio will also start against the Nittany Lions. Another factor in a possible upset for Pitt is the fact that Penn Stte was pushed into overtime before getting the 45-38 win over...Appalachian State. Watch out for the Panthers in this one as they'll make it close.
