Cubs are playoff bound!

By Bob Zayas, Covering the Cubs for 360 Sports

9/29/20

In what seemed like an impossible task to play baseball in 2020, the MLB was somehow able to pull off a 60-game season in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, virtual fans and everyday baseball injuries. A great accomplishment by all concerned. But I believe that if you thought the season was exciting you are going to really enjoy the playoffs! So, buckle up and enjoy!!

The Chicago Cubs clinched the NL Central Division title on Saturday night. It’s the first division title win since 2017. The Cubs will now host the Miami Marlins in a 3-game first round series starting Wednesday, 9/30/20. The Cubs are the #3 seed in the NL. Of late the Cubs have been playing good baseball one day and not so well the next but they have found a way to win nonetheless. They end this short season 34-26 with a team batting average of .220 and a team ERA of 3.99. David Ross, first year manager of the Cubs, will lead the Cubbies to what hopefully will be a productive playoff run.

While it may be way too early to speculate on the playoffs at this moment, what team would you like the Cubs to face in the World Series? For me, I would like to see a Cubs/Toronto series or a Cubs/White Sox series…or how about a repeat of the 2016 Fall Classic versus Cleveland! The possibilities are endless. For baseball fans its Christmas in October! Go Cubs!
