A Look at the Current AP Top 25

There's a lot to look at here in the final weeks of the 2020 college football season. It's been an entertaining year so far, and we've seen a lot of movement in the top 25 rankings. Here are some notes as we head into week 13:

- Iowa State, ranked at No. 12 has clinched a spot in the Big 12 Championship game after a huge road win at Texas, 23-20, on Friday. The Cyclones need to beat West Virginia this week for the program's first ever 10-win season.

-No. 25 Liberty was set to battle No. 14 Coastal Carolina Saturday, until Covid issues forced Liberty to cancel. In its place, the Chanticleers will host No. 8 BYU in a must-see matchup. Coastal Carolina is playing for a spot in a New Year's Day bowl after starting the season 9-0. BYU is still aiming at a spot in the college football playoff (CFP) as the Cougars also have a perfect 9-0 record. If BYU pulls off a victory, CBS' Jerry Palm believes it will be enough to push the Cougars into one of those four spots in the CFP.

- No. 5 Texas A&M has survived every test so far, the Aggies' only loss coming to a very good Alabama team currently ranked No. 1. The Aggies take on Auburn on the road this Saturday, and obviously, need to pull out a victory in order to keep their CFP hopes alive. Auburn has a solid rushing attack, but may be without Tank Bigsby, the Tigers' top back. Auburn QB Bo Nix is 10-1 when playing at home.

In other college football news...

- UCF QB McKenzie Milton announced he will transfer after the former standout starter has rode the bench this entire season.

- Texas' oldest bowl, the Sun Bowl, has been cancelled due to Covid precautions in the El Paso area.

- The Rose Bowl will be played without fans, as was announced Thursday, due to Covid mandates in Los Angeles county. "The Granddaddy of them all" will play host to one of the two CFP semifinal games.

- Southern Miss has not waited long to make a coaching change after 2-7 overall record this season and going through three head coaches. Tulane offensive coordinator Will Hall will take the reigns of the Golden Eagles' attack, as Hall has transformed Tulane's offense into one of the best in the nation.
