3 Storylines to watch on Thanksgiving in the NFL

1. Bears @ Lions- Can strong defense cover for an explosive offense?

Both teams come into this game on a high note having both beaten teams on Sunday with formidable records and explosive players. Unfortunately for Chicago, they'll likely be without starting QB Mitchell Trubisky who has been dealing with a shoulder injury. Not having him would be a major threat to the offense considering he leads all NFL QBs in rushing and hasn't had any trouble getting the ball to playmakers all year. However, their defense is one of the best in the NFL with Akeem Hicks and Khalil Mack on the line along with Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller in the secondary. At the same time, Detroit will also need their defense to play well and generate turnovers in order to keep them in the game. Matthew Stafford and the offense looked good in last week's one-point win over Carolina, but they haven't been consistent, and they'll need to be against a very dangerous Chicago Bears team.

2. Redskins @ Cowboys- Battle for the NFC East

After slipping tremendously in their first 8 games, the Cowboys seem to have finally found their stride. On a two game win streak and having a chance to tie up the NFC East standings, you can expect them to start this game with a lot of momentum. Meanwhile, the Redskins lost starting QB Alex Smith last week with a broken Tibula meaning untested veteran Colt McCoy will start. This might seem like good news to Cowboys fans, however, the Redskins also have Adrian Peterson who has been a powerful back all season. This game will definitely end close, the first meeting ended 20-17 in favor of the Redskins.

3. Falcons @ Saints- Can a strong balanced attack defeat a deep unit of Wide Receivers?

Throughout this season, Drew Brees has played at the top of his game, breaking the all-time passing yards record and throwing for 2,964 yards. The Saints' running back duo of Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram ll have contributed greatly to their success, totaling 15 touchdowns. At the same time, the Falcons wide receivers unit, led by veterans Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu, along with rookie Calvin Ridley are consistent and fast, making it very dangerous for the Saints secondary if any coverages are blown. Expect a close game between these two playoff contenders.
